Witness Account
A witness reported seeing an airplane diving toward the ground. The aircraft passed out of view behind the mountain, and the witness did not hear any impact sounds, leading them to believe the airplane had recovered from the dive.
Discovery
The pilot's wife filed a report later in the day stating the airplane was overdue. Roughly 24 hours after the report, the wreckage was located in a wooded area on the east slope of Sugar Loaf Mountain. Examination of the impact site revealed that the airplane struck the slope at an angle of approximately 70 degrees.
