What happened
The pilot was conducting a flight that included a simulated engine-out procedure. As part of this training or operational maneuver, the pilot executed an approach and landing with one engine assumed to be inoperative. The objective was to demonstrate proficiency in handling the aircraft under these specific failure conditions.
As the airplane approached the runway threshold for Runway 17, the pilot initiated the flare and touchdown sequence. Upon contact with the pavement, the aircraft encountered a right crosswind component. To manage the descent rate and "soften the touchdown," the pilot applied power to the left engine, which was functioning normally, while maintaining the right engine at simulated zero thrust.
The application of asymmetric thrust during the critical ground roll phase, combined with the lateral wind force, resulted in a loss of directional control. The aircraft veered sharply to the right side of the runway. Unable to correct the trajectory, the airplane departed the paved surface and continued its path into an area where other aircraft were stationary. The out-of-control aircraft collided with three parked airplanes.
