Event
During the landing flare, the pilot reported a gust of wind that pushed the airplane to the left, causing it to start veering off the runway. The pilot initially initiated a go-around by advancing the throttle to full forward.
Pilot Actions
Realizing that continuing the go-around might not allow the airplane to clear surrounding trees, the pilot retarded the throttle. The airplane then contacted the ground at an awkward angle, resulting in the collapse of the right main landing gear and the nose gear.
Remarks
The pilot commented that, in hindsight, applying full right rudder and right aileron immediately at the time of full throttle might have corrected the veer. The pilot reported no mechanical malfunctions with the airplane prior to touchdown.
