Accident Sequence
The accident occurred during an instructional flight. The instructor pilot configured the aircraft for single-engine operation by setting the left engine to zero thrust. The instructor then directed the student pilot to land at a local airport. As the student approached the runway, power was reduced just prior to touchdown. The aircraft contacted the runway and bounced into the air.
In response to the bounce, the student pilot applied full power to both engines in an attempt to go around. However, the airplane veered to the left. The left wing subsequently struck the ground. After the wing made contact, the aircraft cartwheeled. Both engines separated from the airframe during the cartwheel.
