Unregistered aircraft collides with crops during landing

What happened

The accident occurred when an unregistered airplane collided with crops while attempting to land at a private landing strip. During a subsequent telephone interview, the pilot reported that he had encountered a sudden wind shift during the final phase of the approach.

As the aircraft entered the landing roll, the wing struck tall corn growing immediately alongside the runway. The pilot stated that he was unable to prevent the airplane from being dragged into the field as a result of this impact.
