Accident Overview
The pilot reported that after touching down on Runway 12, he added power to initiate a go-around in order to prevent a ground loop. The airplane lifted off on a southerly heading but did not gain sufficient altitude to clear a stand of trees. Subsequently, the airplane collided with the trees, spun around, and came to rest nose-down in a corn field.

The pilot purchased the accident airplane three weeks prior to the accident. He reported a total of 18 hours of flight experience in the accident make and model.
Sequence of Events
According to the pilot's statement, the landing on Runway 12 was followed by an immediate decision to go around. After adding power, the airplane became airborne but was unable to climb above the tree line. The collision with the trees caused the airplane to spin and ultimately come to rest inverted in the adjacent corn field.
