Approach and Visual Acquisition
The pilot conducted an NDB approach to runway 33. During the approach, the pilot did not gain visual recognition of the runway until the aircraft was directly over the runway threshold.
Propeller and Landing Gear Contact
Prior to the actual touchdown with the landing gear, a propeller contacted the ground at a point 1,680 feet past the threshold. The landing gear subsequently made contact with the runway 2,486 feet from the threshold. The runway has a total length of 5,235 feet.
Cockpit Communications and Pilot Assessment
As the aircraft crossed the threshold, the copilot advised the pilot that he should execute a go-around due to the speed and height above ground of the airplane. The pilot later characterized the landing as hard.
