Accident Sequence
During the landing rollout, the pilot applied brakes and intended to move the flap selector lever to the up position. However, he inadvertently raised the landing gear lever instead. This action caused all three landing gears to collapse on the runway.
Pilot Experience
The pilot had accumulated 1,184 hours of flight time in the same make and model of aircraft. However, he had less than two hours of experience in the specific 1984 model airplane, which had been purchased only two days earlier.
Aircraft Configuration
The location of the landing gear selector and the flap selector in the 1984 model aircraft was reversed compared to previous models of the same make. This difference in cockpit layout may have contributed to the pilot's confusion during the landing rollout.
