Accident Overview
Following takeoff, the aircraft's engine ceased operation, necessitating a forced landing in wooded terrain. The subsequent examination of the wreckage and accident site provided details about the fuel system condition.
Fuel System Findings
Residual fuel was discovered in the fuel line extending between the fuel pump and the fuel injector. The gascolator contained less than one ounce of fuel. The fuel selector was positioned to 'ON'. The left wing had separated from the fuselage during the accident sequence, which caused the fuel line to be pulled from the tank. However, investigators found no evidence of fuel spillage on the ground.
Structural Damage
The left wing detached from the fuselage, leading to the disconnection of the fuel line from the fuel tank. Despite this separation, no fuel was observed to have leaked onto the ground at the accident site.
