What happened
The pilot communicated with air traffic control regarding an issue with the landing gear indication system. Following this report, the aircraft touched down on the runway but was unable to remain within the paved surface boundaries and departed the runway.
The investigation
A post-accident examination of the airframe revealed that the right main landing gear had failed to extend properly. Investigators noted that the pilot, who was also the owner of the aircraft, had secured the plane after the incident. Consequently, a functional check of the landing gear system could not be performed at that time.
