Event
On 13 August 2022, at 13:00 local time, a helicopter conducting non-regular passenger transport experienced an event 5 miles south of the Ski Center Portillo in the Valparaíso Region. The aircraft was carrying three passengers, with two additional passengers waiting at the landing site for a heliski activity.
Aircraft and Occupants
The aircraft involved was an Airbus Helicopters AS350 B3. The pilot held a Commercial Helicopter Pilot license. There were four occupants on board: the pilot and three passengers. As a result of the event, the pilot sustained minor injuries, while the passengers were uninjured. The helicopter suffered severe damage.
Investigation
The investigation is being conducted by the Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC) in accordance with ICAO Annex 13 and local regulations. As of the preliminary report, the investigation is in the analysis phase of collected information. A specialized inspection of the engine is pending in the United States. The probable cause has not yet been determined.
