Accident Description
While taxiing for departure, the pilot experienced a failure of the right brake. The pilot lost control of the aircraft, which subsequently veered into a ditch.
Examination
An A&P technician examined the aircraft's brake system. The inspection revealed that the right brake hydraulic cylinder was empty. The mechanic filled the right cylinder, checked the brake lines for fluid leaks, and performed a functional test of the brakes. No leaks were found, and the brakes operated to specification. According to the technician, no evidence of old leaks was observed.
Previous Inspection
Review of the aircraft logbooks indicated that the annual inspection had been completed on May 27, 1994, approximately 23 flight hours prior to the accident.
