Accident Details
The aircraft was found approximately 17.5 hours after the crash, having been completely consumed by fire. The wreckage was located 350 feet abeam and southeast of the centerline of the runway, with its distribution opposite to the mandated direction for landing.
Wreckage Examination
Examination of the site revealed sheared lateral tree branches, indicating a steep angle of bank and descent consistent with an uncontrolled descent subsequent to a stall. The distribution of wreckage and tree damage suggested a steep, turning descent prior to impact.
Possible Scenario
There were no witnesses to the accident. Consequently, no explanation was determined as to why the pilot attempted a left 180-degree turn.
