What happened
The pilot initiated a takeoff roll on a relatively short 2,100-foot gravel runway. Environmental conditions at the time included a density altitude of approximately 4,200 feet and a crosswind component from the left at 12 knots. Despite these factors, the aircraft was unable to achieve sufficient lift to become airborne within the available runway length. Consequently, the aircraft overran the paved surface and collided with a dirt embankment located just past the departure end of the runway.
