What happened
The pilot was operating an aircraft during the takeoff phase from runway 07. Upon rotation and initial climb, the airplane began a sharp uncommanded turn to the right. The pilot reported that they were unable to correct the aircraft's attitude once it lifted off the ground.
As the aircraft continued its rightward deviation, the right wing struck the terrain adjacent to the runway. Following this impact, the airplane proceeded to collide with several gliders that were parked on the ramp area. The wind conditions at the time of the accident were reported as light and variable, which did not appear to contribute significantly to the loss of control.
The investigation
Following the accident, Federal Aviation Administration inspectors examined the aircraft to determine if mechanical failure played a role in the incident. The examination revealed no evidence of control system malfunctions or other mechanical issues that would explain the uncommanded turn.
