Incident Overview

On a taxiway at an airport, a Boeing 767 (registration LNRCK) collided with a stationary Boeing 737 (registration N13624). The B-737 was parked on taxiway D, awaiting departure clearance. The B-767, which had received its departure clearance first, was instructed by air traffic control to taxi past the B-737 and proceed to the active runway. During this maneuver, the left wing tip of the B-767 struck the right horizontal stabilizer and elevator of the B-737.

Aircraft Configuration

According to the captain of the B-737, at the time of impact the aircraft was configured as follows: it was positioned on the taxiway centerline with the parking brake set. Only the number one engine was running, due to ATC delays, and the auxiliary power unit (APU) was also operating.

Aftermath

Following the impact, the B-737 captain shut down the engine and the APU. No fuel leaks were observed, and neither airplane required the evacuation of passengers. The flightcrew of the B-767 did not provide an account of the accident despite several requests.
