Accident Details
During a solo flight, a student pilot was on her second approach when the incident occurred. Approximately 10 feet above the runway, she applied partial power to reduce the descent rate. The airplane subsequently drifted off the left side of the runway. In response, the student attempted to initiate a go-around but did not increase engine power. She pulled on the control wheel, and the stall warning light flickered. The airplane then stalled and collided with trees.
Pilot Information
The student pilot had accumulated a total of 70 flight hours. However, she had been inactive from flying for a period of 6 months prior to the accident. Following this hiatus, she completed 6.2 hours of dual flight instruction. Just before the accident, she was endorsed for solo flight.
