Incident Overview
The pilot of an airplane reported landing on a runway covered with snow while snow was falling. During the landing roll, the airplane touched down on the extreme left edge of the runway. Shortly after touchdown, the airplane departed the left side of the runway and entered the adjacent snow-covered terrain.
Sequence of Events
After the airplane left the runway surface, it was pulled further to the left. The pilot reported being unable to steer the airplane back onto the runway. The airplane continued into a ditch, where it came to rest partially submerged.
Damage
As a result of the ditch impact, the nose gear was sheared off and the left wing sustained damage. The extent of damage to other components was not specified in the report.
