Landing Sequence
The pilot reported extending the landing gear before entering the traffic pattern and completing a prelanding checklist while on the downwind leg. He observed that the main gear appeared down and the green gear-down light was illuminated. The approach proceeded from base to final, culminating in touchdown.
Incident Details
Upon touchdown, the main gear partially collapsed and the gear warning horn activated. The airplane slid to the right, dragging the right wing tip and the right elevator tip along the runway surface.
Post-Accident Testing
After the occurrence, the landing gear system was functionally tested multiple times, both on the ground and in the air. No repairs or adjustments were necessary to the landing gear extension system.
