Accident Sequence
The pilot of the airplane reported that during final approach, the aircraft was traveling too fast for a safe landing. In response, the pilot requested and received clearance to execute a 360-degree turn, intending to reduce speed before touching down. Upon initiating the flare for landing, the airplane exhibited a tendency to float, failing to settle onto the runway as expected. The pilot then attempted to apply full throttle to perform a go-around, but the throttle control would not move forward, preventing the initiation of a missed approach. Consequently, the airplane touched down well beyond the intended touchdown point, more than halfway down the runway. It continued rolling and departed the departure end of the runway, subsequently colliding with a fence.
Postaccident Examination
A postaccident examination of the airplane was conducted. No evidence of any preimpact mechanical anomaly was found. Flight control continuity was verified, and the throttle, mixture, and propeller controls were inspected, with no anomalies observed. The examination thus indicated that the airplane was functioning normally from a mechanical standpoint prior to the accident.
