Incident Details

During a ground run, a helicopter pilot increased the collective pitch, causing the aircraft to become light on its skids and pull to the right. The pilot then applied left cyclic input, but the helicopter rolled over onto its right side. The pilot had not intended to take off. Post-incident examination of the helipad revealed gouge marks on the right rear area, and dirt was present on the right rear skid of the helicopter.

Investigation Findings

The pilot reported a suspected problem with the lateral trim unit. However, an examination of the cyclic force trim system found no malfunction, abnormality, or restriction of movement with the force trim engaged. No other contributing factors were identified.
