Student Pilot Accident at Woodcreek Resort Airstrip (N2382Z)

Background and Limitations A student pilot had been signed off by a flight instructor to conduct multiple cross-country flights to five different airports. The instructor imposed specific operational limitations for flights into and out of Woodcreek Resort Airstrip, where the pilot resided. These restrictions required the aircraft to have one-half fuel or less and for temperatures to be below 85 degrees Fahrenheit. ## Pre-Accident Conditions Approximately thirty minutes before the accident, the pilot had the fuel tanks topped off. The temperature at the time of the accident was 102 degrees Fahrenheit, exceeding the instructor's specified limit. ## Approach and Impact The pilot made a pass over the runway to confirm it was clear for landing. A witness reported that an estimated 6-knot wind changed direction by approximately 180 degrees between the pilot's first and second approach. During the second approach, a witness located 300 feet off the end of the runway observed that the aircraft barely cleared the trees over a creek before banking hard to the left. Another witness reported seeing the aircraft in a steep left bank before it dove downward. The aircraft impacted the backside of the 18th green of a golf course and came to rest in a sand trap.
