Narrative
The pilot reported that the aircraft was preflighted, started, and warmed up with temperatures and pressures gauges in the green. Following the engine warm-up, the pilot began a hover, cleared the area, and proceeded to takeoff. Approximately 150 feet after lift-off, the engine stopped producing power. The pilot was traveling between 30 and 50 mph at the time. He attempted a quick-stop but determined he was too low and did not have enough altitude to autorotate the aircraft. Instead, he executed a run-on landing. After contacting the ground, the aircraft slid approximately 40 feet. As it came to rest on a terrace, it slowly rolled onto its side.
Examination
