Incident Overview
A Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) was conducting a training flight with a student pilot. Shortly after takeoff, at an altitude of approximately 100 feet above ground level (AGL), the CFI reduced the engine power to idle to simulate an engine failure. In response, the student pilot pulled back on the control yoke, which decreased the airspeed and resulted in a high rate of descent.
Sequence of Events
The CFI took control of the airplane and added power. However, the airplane collided with the runway and bounced, becoming airborne again.
