Accident Details
A local area personal flight ended with the aircraft departing the runway during the landing roll and colliding with a hangar. The sequence of events involved the aircraft rotating onto one wing tip, the nose landing gear collapsing, and the aircraft then coming down on the opposite wing tip.
Pilot and Aircraft Information
The pilot had accumulated 6 hours of experience in the accident aircraft type. According to the pilot, the right brake grabbed during the roll. The pilot also reported that the wind was calm at the time of the occurrence.
Inspection Findings
An airworthiness inspector from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) examined both the aircraft and its maintenance logs. The inspection revealed no system failure or malfunction in the aircraft. However, it was determined that the aircraft was not in compliance with the annual inspection requirement, as it was out of annual inspection.
