Witnesses saw the airplane lift off past the runway intersection, climb to 250-300 feet, then roll left and descend vertically. The aircraft was 164 pounds over maximum gross weight and departed with a 4 knot left quartering tailwind.

Witness Account

According to witness reports, the airplane became airborne on runway 5 beyond the intersection with runway 17/35, which is located approximately 3,108 feet from the approach end of runway 5. Runway 5 has a total length of 3,999 feet.

Climb and Maneuver
