Accident Summary
On the day of the event, a float-equipped airplane was in cruise flight when its engine suddenly lost all power at an altitude of approximately 800 feet above mean sea level. The pilot was forced to land the aircraft on mud flats. During the landing sequence, the airplane flipped over, coming to rest inverted on the terrain.
Postaccident Investigation
Following the accident, a thorough investigation was conducted to determine the cause of the engine power loss. Investigators first checked the fuel system.
