Incident Summary
The aircraft landed with its landing gear retracted, a condition known as a gear-up landing. The pilot reported that he believed he observed a green light indicating the gear was down and locked, and thus continued the landing as per his normal procedures.
Pilot Report
Recordings from the air traffic control tower were replayed and captured the pilot's transmission immediately after the landing, in which he stated, "I just did a gear up." The pilot's statement indicated that he thought he saw a green light for the gear and proceeded accordingly.
Aircraft Inspection
A mechanic certified by the Federal Aviation Administration inspected the landing gear extension and retraction system. The inspection revealed no abnormalities except for a circuit breaker that had popped for the gear motor. After resetting the circuit breaker, the system was tested and operated satisfactorily, completing several cycles at the proper cycle speed.
