Incident Overview
During a flight practicing instrument approaches, the pilots decided to land. The owner-pilot, who was receiving instruction, executed a normal landing. However, during the rollout, the nose landing gear collapsed. The airplane slid on its nose and began to veer to the left. Subsequently, the right main landing gear also collapsed.
Post-Incident Examination
An FAA inspector examined the airplane. The landing gear selector was found in the DOWN position. The flap handle was in the UP position. The landing gear doors were open. The landing gear torque tubes were bent but not broken.
Findings
No other anomalies were reported. The investigation focused on the mechanical condition of the landing gear system as found after the incident.
