Investigation Findings

Examination of the fuel system revealed no fuel contamination in the fuel tanks, which contained sufficient fuel. A slight amount of sand or silt was found in the fuel strainer, and the carburetor bowl contained about a pint of water mixed with sand or silt. The left fuel tank vent line and vent line 'B' nut were damaged.
