Incident Overview
A helicopter sustained damage after rolling over during an engine run on a ramp. The pilot reported that the helicopter had been positioned on a small trailer inside a hangar before being moved to the ramp. The plan was to lift the helicopter off the small trailer, land on the ramp, and then reposition it onto a larger trailer.
Sequence of Events
According to the pilot, while attempting to lift off from the small trailer, the rear portion of the left skid became caught on the trailer, causing the helicopter to roll onto its side. The pilot stated that the purpose of the operation was to perform an engine run following an annual inspection, with no intention of flight. In a subsequent report to the NTSB, the pilot described that during the engine run, the helicopter vibrated and the skids slipped off the trailer, resulting in the helicopter falling onto its side.
Damage
The main rotor blades and tail rotor blades were damaged in the incident.
