Accident Details
A pilot with 1,621 hours of flight experience was landing on runway 02, a 2,100-foot long grass-covered strip. During the landing, the pilot realized there was insufficient room to stop before the runway ended. He aborted the landing and applied full power, causing the airplane to become airborne again.
However, the main landing gear contacted a 4-foot tall chain link fence located past the departure end of the runway. After hitting the fence, the airplane crossed a road and came to a stop 90 feet from the fence, among pine saplings.
Pilot's Report
The pilot reported that, at the time of the accident, the wind was from the west at 7 knots. No other factors were noted in the report.
Subsequent Events
The airplane came to rest approximately 90 feet beyond the fence line, surrounded by pine saplings. The extent of damage to the aircraft was not specified in the source.
