Incident Overview
A certificated private pilot experienced a complete loss of engine power shortly after takeoff, at an altitude of approximately 150 feet above the ground. The pilot reported that all engine power ceased, and attempts to restore power through emergency engine procedures were unsuccessful.
Forced Landing
Unable to regain engine power, the pilot selected a forced landing area that contained trees. The airplane subsequently collided with the trees, resulting in substantial damage to the wings, fuselage, and empennage.
Post-Accident Examination
An FAA airworthiness inspector examined the accident airplane and reported that no preaccident mechanical anomalies were found. The investigation did not identify any mechanical issues that could have contributed to the power loss.
