Sequence of Events
The pilot was aware of a crosswind condition during the approach. When the aircraft descended below the trees on final approach, the crosswind changed. After landing, the airplane bounced and then drifted to the right. The pilot added power to go around, and the aircraft became airborne, drifting to the left of the runway.
During the flare, the pilot reported that a quartering crosswind gusted slightly and that he did not adequately compensate. He attempted to bank to the right, but the right wing struck the ground. This caused the aircraft to spin around, catch fire, and burn.

The pilot submitted a statement to the NTSB but did not return a completed Pilot/Operator Accident Report Form 6120.1/2.
