Accident Narrative

The pilot of a Beech B35 attempted takeoff from a west-oriented 2,000-foot dirt/gravel airstrip. The aircraft carried four passengers, with an estimated total occupant weight of 755 pounds. The fuel load was between two-thirds and three-quarters, amounting to as much as 176 pounds. The combined occupant and fuel weight, added to the aircraft's empty weight, placed it close to its maximum gross takeoff weight.
