Event Overview
The airplane conducted an off-field landing after the engine lost power, during which it collided with poles. The flight was a check-out following the completion of an annual inspection. As the aircraft returned to the airport, the engine began to run rough and lose power.
Landing and Impact
During the attempted landing on a road, the left wing struck a pole, causing the airplane to weave. Subsequently, the aircraft hit another pole and departed the road into soft dirt. The main landing gear dug into the soft dirt, and the propeller nosed into the ground.
Damage
Both wings and the fuselage sustained substantial damage.
Post-Accident Examination
A post-accident examination of the engine did not reveal any anomalies. The engine was test run successfully to 2,000 rpm.
