Takeoff Attempt
The pilot attempted to depart from a grass runway that was described as soft due to recent rainfall. During the takeoff roll, the left main wheel encountered a soft spot on the runway surface. This caused the airplane to yaw approximately 30 degrees to the left.
Pilot Actions
In response to the unexpected left turn, the pilot applied right rudder input. However, no corresponding response from the airplane was observed. The pilot then reduced engine power and applied the brakes.
Departure from Runway
Despite the pilot's efforts, the airplane continued to veer left and departed the left side of the runway. Subsequently, the right wing of the airplane struck a pole.
Post-Accident Examination
A post-accident examination of the airplane found no mechanical anomalies that could have contributed to the loss of directional control.
