Accident Sequence
The airplane experienced a collapse of the left main landing gear during landing, resulting in substantial damage. After touchdown, the aircraft turned abruptly to the right. The pilot applied left rudder in an attempt to regain control, causing the airplane to slide sideways down the runway.
Pilot Actions
Following the abrupt right turn, the pilot reported applying left rudder. The airplane then slid sideways, leading to the collapse of the left main landing gear strut. The left wing subsequently struck the runway, and the airplane continued sliding into a ditch.
Inspection Findings
An on-scene inspection of the airplane revealed no anomalies in the main landing gear brakes or brake assemblies. The right main landing gear strut was found intact.
