Accident Sequence
The pilot reported that during the landing roll, the airplane veered sharply to the left. In response, the pilot applied hard right brake and right rudder in an attempt to maintain the runway heading. Despite these corrective actions, the left main landing gear subsequently collapsed. The airplane then came to rest on the left edge of the runway.
Post-Accident Observations
After the accident, the pilot observed heavy skid marks from the left main wheel on the runway. Additionally, a worker from the State of Alaska Department of Transportation located parts of the left brake assembly on the runway. These parts were found approximately 300 feet from the stopped airplane.
Damage Assessment
The accident resulted in damage to the left wing, left nacelle, and left main landing gear of the airplane. No other damage was noted in the pilot's account.
