Accident Details
An airplane operating under visual flight rules (VFR) without a filed flight plan was involved in a collision with trees near Monticello, Georgia. The pilot was reportedly searching for a private grass landing strip at the time of the accident.
Witness Account
A witness who was jogging in the area reported that visibility was very poor due to fog. The witness stated that he could hear but barely see the airplane flying at a low altitude overhead. After passing overhead, the airplane headed toward a wooded hill, and the witness heard the sound of the crash.
