Accident Details
The pilot of an airplane involved in an accident at Lawrence County Airport in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, reported that the incident occurred during a landing on runway 17. The pilot stated that the prevailing winds were calm when he performed a 3-point landing on the runway.
Sequence of Events
During the landing roll out, a gust of wind lifted the left wing, causing the airplane to veer to the right. The pilot applied opposite rudder input in an attempt to correct the deviation, but lost directional control. The airplane continued its rightward movement, resulting in a side load that collapsed the left main landing gear. Subsequently, the left wing made contact with the runway surface.
