Incident Overview
A certified flight instructor and a student were conducting a training flight in a helicopter. The instructor permitted the student to perform one additional steep turn before returning to the hangar. During the final steep turn, the student lost more altitude than in previous maneuvers.
Sequence of Events
As the student lost altitude, the instructor assumed control of the helicopter. However, during the subsequent touchdown, the helicopter touched down with the right skid lower than the left, accompanied by forward left lateral movement. This resulted in the helicopter rolling over.
Mechanical Status
The flight instructor stated that there were no mechanical failures or malfunctions with the helicopter or any of its systems prior to the accident.
