Pilot Collides with Wires Near River (N2908E)

What happened

The flight was conducted in close proximity to a river corridor. During the operation, the pilot initiated a turn when the passenger observed overhead obstructions and warned him to watch for wires. Despite this warning, the airplane collided with two of four visible wires suspended across the area. Following the impact with the wires, the aircraft continued its trajectory and struck the surface of the river.

The investigation

Post-accident examination revealed that the pilot did not experience any mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane prior to the collision with the wires or the subsequent impact with the water. The sequence of events was driven by spatial disorientation or lack of visual scanning rather than equipment failure.

Findings
