Summary
A pilot conducting a simulated soft-field takeoff experienced a loss of directional control after lift-off, leading to an aborted takeoff and a hard landing that caused damage to the left wing.
Narrative
The pilot was performing a simulated soft-field takeoff maneuver. Upon lifting off the runway, the pilot released back pressure on the controls. This action caused the airplane to pitch up and roll to the left. In response, the pilot aborted the takeoff, and the airplane subsequently landed hard on the left side of the runway. The landing heading was approximately 15 degrees left of the runway centerline.
Damage
During the hard landing, the left wing tip contacted the ground. The impact resulted in bending of the left wing rib and aileron.
