Accident Summary
According to an NTSB Pilot/Operator Aircraft Accident Report, the aircraft was fast on landing, which resulted in a long landing. As the end of the runway approached, the pilot applied excessive braking, causing the aircraft to nose over.
Witness Observations
A pilot-rated witness on the airport reported observing the aircraft make a high, overshooting turn to final. Subsequently, the aircraft was seen making S-turns, followed by an aggressive side-slip maneuver to lose excess altitude. The aircraft then leveled out and floated past the witness's position, which was located at the midfield point.
Sequence of Events
The aircraft touched down, bounced, and traveled another 200 to 300 feet before touching down again in a two-point landing. After rolling approximately 100 feet, the tail began to rise, and the propeller contacted the ground.
