Accident Details
The pilot reported that after landing on runway 9 at the appropriate airspeed without the banner, she applied appropriate airplane control corrections to maintain the airplane on the runway centerline. However, immediately after touchdown, a strong gust caused the airplane to ground loop to the right. The pilot stated that she applied control corrections to counteract the wind, but the airplane did not respond. As a result, the left main landing gear collapsed, and the left wing incurred damage.
Pilot Statement
The pilot stated that there were no pre-accident anomalies with the airplane or any of its systems. The airplane had landed without the banner attached, and the landing was conducted at the appropriate airspeed. The pilot's control inputs were appropriate for maintaining centerline, but the gust overwhelmed the airplane's response.
