Incident Overview
During landing at the destination airport, the pilot configured the airplane with 30 degrees of wing flaps and maintained an airspeed of 90 miles per hour. Upon touchdown on the runway identifier markings, the airplane bounced and became airborne again. This initiated a porpoise oscillation along the runway, with the nose landing gear collapsing on the third contact. The pilot reported no preimpact mechanical malfunctions or failures that would have precluded normal operation.
Sequence of Events
The pilot made a hard landing, which resulted in a porpoise pilot-induced oscillation. After the initial touchdown on the runway numbers, the airplane rebounded into the air.
