Event Summary
A pilot landed an airplane on runway 25. Upon retarding the power levers before selecting reverse thrust, the airplane began to swerve. The pilot applied rudder to correct the swerve. Subsequently, the right tire blew out, leading to a loss of directional control. The airplane departed the right side of the runway and collided with a snowbank.
Postaccident Examination
A postaccident examination revealed that the left wingtip was crushed and the composite canard wing was fractured. The operator's mechanic inspected the airplane and found no mechanical malfunction with the airframe, powerplants, or systems.
Runway Evidence
According to the airport fire department, the airplane left the 8,000-foot runway at the 5,000-foot mark after leaving a 1,664-foot skid mark.
