Accident Details
On 7 March 2007, Garuda Indonesia Flight 200 (GA200), a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Jakarta to Yogyakarta, overran the runway during landing at Adisucipto International Airport. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-400, continued past the runway end, crashed into a rice field, and burst into flames.
Casualties and Survivors
Twenty passengers and one flight attendant were killed. Both pilots survived the accident and were subsequently dismissed from their positions.
Context
The accident marked the fifth hull-loss of a Boeing 737 in Indonesia within a period of less than six months. It was the most recent accident with fatalities involving Garuda Indonesia at the time.
