Incident Overview
A ground collision occurred between a Cessna T210N and a Sukhoi SU-29 at an airport after both aircraft had landed. The collision resulted in damage to the Cessna's left elevator and left stabilizer from the Sukhoi's propeller.
Sequence of Events
The pilot of the Cessna T210N reported landing on runway 25R and exiting the runway via taxiway E. After contacting ground control, he requested taxi clearance to the southeast T-hangars, which required crossing active runway 25R. Ground control cleared him to taxi on taxiway A to taxiway C and hold short of runway 25R. Upon reaching the intersection of taxiways A and C, the pilot held on taxiway A facing east to allow any landing aircraft to exit the active runway at taxiway C.
The pilot of the Sukhoi SU-29, a tail-wheel aircraft, also landed on runway 25R and exited via taxiway E. He switched to ground control frequency and requested taxi clearance to the northeast T-hangars. Ground control cleared him to taxi on taxiway A to the T-hangars. The pilot began taxiing and reported seeing the Cessna at the last moment. He reduced power and applied brakes, but his propeller struck the left elevator and left stabilizer of the Cessna.
Damage
The left elevator and left stabilizer of the Cessna T210N were damaged by the propeller of the Sukhoi SU-29.
